My hometown is in the northeasternmost part of China, called Heilongjiang. In my impression, there are rarely severe natural disasters in my hometown. So, the first time I experienced an earthquake was after I came to Japan. My hometown is mostly flat and is known for its abundant forests and good air quality, which means fewer natural disasters. Japan, on the other hand, is surrounded by hills and has long, rainy summers, making it prone to landslides.
In terms of disaster prevention, I think China focuses more on government leadership, with significant attention to building infrastructure and having departments to handle emergencies. In contrast, Japan, due to its frequent disasters, educates its people about disaster prevention from a young age, so the public has a high level of disaster awareness. Regardless, when facing natural disasters, humans need to help each other, and countries should share their strengths and learn from each other.
