During my life in Hiroshima prefecture these last almost 1,5 years, I have gotten many first experiences.
Such as going to my first Shinto shrine to get omikuji (first lucks were only bad ones, but I've improved since then 😁) or goshuin for keeping the memories of places I've visited all over Japan. I also made my first prayers at a Bhuddist temple and had them fulfilled. ⛩️🛕⛩️🛕
Since Japanese daily life is full of shinto traditions, I had my first matsuri and kagura viewing only a couple of weeks after I came to Japan and became a fan of kagura. Even visited a high school in Kita-Hiroshima known for it's kagura club and traveled to Shimane and Miyazaki prefecture to see different types of kagura. 🎎👹👺🎎
I have visited Hiroshima to see bunraku and play Japanese games and to chat in Japanese in ChitChat club. Even had my first and so far only tea ceremonies here. And dressed in samurai's costume at Hiroshima castle.🍵🏯🍵
As food is a big part of the local culture, I've tried my first okonomiyaki, momiji manju etc in Hiroshima. And of course the local sake at Saijo Sake Matsuri just a few days after arriving in Hiroshima. No better okonomiyaki or sake than in Hiroshima!🍡🍶🦪
I've tested my Japanese skills and nerve by entering a Japanese speech contest, that took place at the Chrystal Plaza and which encouraged me to try my luck at other contests. I also did my JLPT here and am encouraged to continue my Japanese learning. 🖌📜🧧
I have had the honour of participating at the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Memorial Day and making my own wishes of peace to send floating on the river with thousands of others. I've folded my first paper crane here to member the resilience and bravery of those who suffered from the atomic bombing in 1945.
I've also taken the chance to travel thanks to shinkansen and Seishun 18 Kippu in more than 20 prefectures to discover the beauty and traditions of Japan.
However, I am incredebly happy that I landed in Hiroshima. The climate, the beautiful and historical places and friendly people have been a true blessing.🎏🎋🎐
