The Coming of Age Day
Today is the second Monday of January, which is the Coming of Age Day in Japan. It is held in order to congratulate and encourage all those who have reached the age of majority (20 years old), to help them realize that they have been able to decide everything, and become adults. On this day, in the land of the rising sun, young adults wear their most beautiful clothes. Women wear furisode, one kind of kimono, and zouri sandals. Most of men nowadays wear suits instead of kimono. The ceremonies are generally held at local city offices throughout Japan, and all of them are invited to attend. Government officials give speeches, and small presents are handed out to the newly recognized adults.

今日は1月の第二月曜日、成人の日です。ご存知ですか？二十歳になった人つまり成人を祝い、おとなになったことを自覚し、みずから生き抜こうとする青年を祝いはげます。この日全国に新成人はきれいな服を着ています。女子は振袖と草履を。男子は着物と袴を。だが、最近男子は伝統的な服を着るかわりにスーツなんて洋服を着ています。各市町村で新成人を招き、成人式を行われます。市長なんては発表し、プレゼントをあげるわけです。
Lễ Trưởng Thành
Hôm nay là ngày thứ hai thứ hai của tháng 1, và ở Nhật hôm nay chúng ta có lễ Trưởng thành, chúc mừng những nam thanh nữ tú đã bước sang tuổi 20, được xã hội công nhận, tự quyết định mọi việc, và chính thức trở thành người lớn. Vào ngày này, khắp nơi trên đất nước mặt trời mọc, các bạn nam nữ mới lớn sẽ mặc những bộ quần áo đẹp nhất. Nữ mặc furisode, một loại kimono, đi dép zouri. Nam thì mặc kimono đen với hakama, nhưng ngày nay phần lớn sẽ mặc vest trong ngày này. Và ở các địa phương cũng đều có tổ chức lễ trưởng thành, những ai đủ 20 tuổi đều sẽ được mời. Người đứng đầu khu vực sẽ có vài lời phát biểu và mọi người sẽ được nhận một phần quà nho nhỏ.
